James leads the specialist US team in providing tailored insurance solutions for law firms, corporates and individuals involved in complex legal disputes. 

James’s expertise spans after-the-event (ATE) insurance, portfolio insurance wrappers, judgment preservation insurance and contingency fee insurance. James has placed coverage for disputes across numerous jurisdictions and a wide spectrum of dispute types, including commercial disputes, IP infringement, international arbitration (both commercial and investment treaty), group litigation, securities actions, competition and anti-trust, Qui Tam and judgment and award enforcement. 

An acknowledged expert in the field, James is a regular speaker on the topic of litigation insurance and litigation finance. In 2020, James was recognised by LawDragon as one of the top 10 advisors to the global legal finance industry. James co-authored a chapter on Dispute Funding in the ICCA-Queen Mary Task Force Report on Third Party Funding in International Arbitration. James also gave expert evidence on litigation funding in the widely reported Essar v Norscot case.

After law school and prior to joining TheJudge, James worked for an insurance company which was subsequently acquired by a major litigation funder, where he handled complex and large loss litigation insurance claims.
