Shashi joined TheJudge as Associate General Counsel in 2016 and is based in the New York office. Prior to joining TheJudge, he served as Director and International Case Counsel with the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“ICDR”), the international division of the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”), and ICDR Canada. Whilst there, he administered over three hundred disputes involving parties from around the world. His work profile from the ICDR includes advising arbitrators and parties on legal and administrative aspects of complex international arbitral procedure under the various rule-sets of the ICDR, ICDR Canada, AAA and UNCITRAL; review and revision of Tribunal issued emergency, interim, and final awards to ensure clarity, scope, and enforceability; and preparation of memoranda and recommendations on jurisdictional objections, arbitrator disqualifications, and rule interpretation. Shashi was also tasked with overseeing all ICDR cases having a Canadian nexus.
Shashi currently guest lecturers at Rutgers Law School where he presents on fundamental principles, procedural rules, and applicable law in the field of international commercial arbitration, and provides intensive legal, written, and oral advocacy training to students in preparation for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna and Hong Kong. Shashi has also presented at New York University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and National Law University – Jodhpur.
He has previously spent time with the arbitration and litigation practice of Fox Mandal and Little & Co. in Mumbai and had a prior career with MWW PR in their public affairs and government relations group.
Shashi received his BA from Rutgers University and his JD from Rutgers Law School. He is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey and is a dual citizen of the United States of America and Canada.
