Erika joined TheJudge as Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 2016 and is based in the New York office. As a lawyer specializing in litigation and arbitration as well as international business transactions, Erika has a wealth of experience in international commercial arbitration, complex cross-border litigation, intellectual property, regulatory actions, and private equity.
Prior to joining TheJudge, Erika was a lawyer at Clifford Chance US LLP, Stone & Magnanini LLP (formerly the New Jersey office of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP), and established the firm of Sondahl Levin LLC. Erika has represented clients, particularly multinational corporations, in the construction, energy, finance, manufacturing, insurance and technology sectors. Erika is a member of the panel of arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“ICDR”), the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (“KIAC”), and the Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation of the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná (“CAM FIEP”).
Erika regularly lectures at international conferences sponsored by the ICDR, ICC, CBAR, the New York City Bar, and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”). She has spent over a decade as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University School of Law teaching international commercial arbitration, international sales law, international business transactions, and fashion law. She serves as a faculty advisor and coach for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna and Hong Kong and also serves as a course leader at the Swiss International Law School where she teaches comparative corporate law. She has also guest lectured at Harvard University, the University of São Paulo, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
Erika has a BA from Rutgers College and earned her JD from Rutgers School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, is a dual-citizen of the USA and Brazil and speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
